Maths Homework: KIRFs

What are KIRFs?
KIRFs are the key instant retrieval facts in maths that children should know to help them to be able to recognise patterns and connections, leading to reasoning about maths and an increase in confidence. To include facts such as number bonds, times tables, division facts and equivalences between fractions, decimals and percentages. Children should be able to recall these facts at speed and with accuracy and automaticity.
At Denham Village School, we will be focusing on one key fact each half-term in each year group so that the children can secure them and use them in their maths lessons. In class, children will complete activities, sing songs and play games linked to the key facts of the half-term. Homework activities may also be sent to strengthen their recall of the facts.
